Adding a blog to your website can do wonders for finding more business. There are many benefits to this fantastic tool which we’ll explore over several weeks.

In general getting websites to link to your main website is difficult because your primary website content is probably nothing new. There are most likely other businesses like yours out there and there’s nothing of linking interest. BUT when you start writing blog posts about your market niche, you will start creating linkable, interesting content.

As you create blog posts, you are creating more content which the search engines will find and more content that other websites will want to link to.

When a website links to one of your blog posts, it bumps up your value in the search engines’ eyes. More links, means a better website. The search engines will boost the ranking of your primary website because of this – IF your primary website is on the same domain as your blog. If your blog is at http://myblog.wordpress.org, you’re not going to get nearly the same level of search engine boost then if your website was at http://www.mydomain.com/blog.

Better search engine rankings = more business!
